Buddy the Heart - Free Pattern Friday

Today's free pattern is Buddy the Heart! Just in time for Valentine's day! They work up super quickly, so you can make a bunch. They'd also be great to add catnip in for a cat toy. :)

Here's what you'll need:
WW yarn
F hook (G or E would work as well)
*With F hook, finished heart is about 3 in.

*He is worked from the bottom up in two layers

Here's how you make him:

Make 2:

R1: Ch2, 2 sc in 2nd chain from hook.
R2: ch 1, turn. 2 sc in each st. (4)
R3: ch1, turn. sc across. (4)
R4: ch 1, turn. 2sc in first st, sc next 2, 2sc in last st. (6)
R5: Ch1, turn. Sc across. (6)
R6: ch 1, turn. 2sc in first st, sc next 4, 2sc in last st. (8)
R7: Ch1, turn. Sc across. (8)
R8: ch 1, turn. 2sc in first st, sc next 6, 2sc in last st. (10)
R9: Ch1, turn. Sc across. (10)
(Don't break yarn, continue to first hump)

First hump:
R1: ch1, turn. 2 sc first st, sc next 3, 2sc next st (leave remaining st unworked for now) (7)
R2: ch1, turn. sc in each st (7)
R3: ch1, turn. sc2tog, sc3tog, sc2tog (3)
R4: ch 1, turn. sc3tog (1)
f/o

Reattach yarn on other side
R1: ch1, turn. 2 sc first st, sc next 3, 2sc next st (7)
R2: ch1, turn. sc in each st (7)
R3: ch1, turn. sc2tog, sc3tog, sc2tog (3)
R4: ch 1, turn. sc3tog (1)

Sc around entire heart.
At bottom corner (sc, ch 1, sc) and between two humps, sl st
(See pics for clarification)
Sc, ch 1, sc in bottom "corner" st.

Sl st in two st between humps

Add safety eyes/embroider eyes and mouth. Place two "wrong sides" (the sides you don't want showing) together and sl st around through both layers of heart. Make sure you stuff before you close it completely! Close, f/o and weave in ends. :)

Now you're done! I can't wait to see pics!

MCAL Reveal!

Good morning!

How did your creation come out? Did you figure out what it is?

Here's your final reveal!

Finishing instructions:

Sew ears to top of head (I lined them up with the eyes).
Sew legs to bottom of body (usually easiest to line them up with your starting MC to make sure they are even)
Sew arms to sides of body
Sew head on!

And you're done! How did yours come out? I'd love to see pictures!!

MCAL Part 3!

Good morning!

I hope you are enjoying this as much as I enjoyed creating it! Here is your final instructions to complete your mystery pattern!

(Remember you are working in the round, with a G hook and WW yarn)

Head:

R1: ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, placing 3 st in last chain. Turn piece 180 degrees so you are working along the back of your starting chain. sc next 8, 2sc in last st (you do not need to join. Stitch markers would be helpful!) You are now working in the round (20 st)
R2: 2 sc in first st, sc next 7 st, 2sc in next 3 st, sc next 7, 2 sc in last 2 st (26)
R3: sc in next st, 2 sc in next, sc in next 8, (2sc in next st, sc in next) 3x, sc in next 7 st, (2sc, sc) 2x (32)
R4-6: sc in each st around (32)
R7: sc next 20 st, (2sc, sc) 6x (38)
R8: sc next 20 st, (2sc, sc next 2) 6x (44)
R9-13: sc in each st around (44)
R14: **sc2tog, sc next 2 st** around, sc2tog over last 2 st (33)
(This would be a good time to add safety eyes, embroider on a nose and stuff)
R15: **sc2tog, sc** around, sc in last (22)
R16: **sc2tog, sc** around, sc last st (15)
R17-18: sc2tog. (It won't work out evenly per row as you have an odd number of stitches. continue to sc2tog until you have about 3-4 st left)

f/o, leaving long tail. Weave through last few stitches and pull tight.

Ears: (Make 2)
Ch 6, hdc in second ch from hook, and next st, sc next 2, (sl st, ch 1, sl st) in last st. Turn pieces 180 degrees and continue along back of starting chain. Sc next 2, hdc last 2 st. f/o leaving a long tail to sew to head.

Those are all your pieces! If you feel like you've figured it out, go ahead and sew pieces together. Otherwise, stay tuned for sewing instructions!

Feel free to post pics!
