Welcome to Free Pattern Friday! Do you have any little boys that need to look "dapper" for St. Patrick's Day or Easter? Well, I've got a pattern for you! Having 3 boys, I've often found that there are PLENTY of beautiful things to crochet for girls, but hard to find fun stuff to make for boys! So one of my "boy" creations is this bow tie. Now, if you have girls, feel free to make one for your little girl too - Just put it in her hair instead. :)
My bow is about 4.5 inches long. I've included instructions to make smaller and larger ones as well. :)
- H crochet hook
- WW yarn
- tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Start our by chaining 30. (If you'd like a smaller one, ch 20. For bigger, ch 40) Join with a sl st to first ch. Be careful not to twist your chain when you join!
R1: ch 1, sc in same st and every st around. Join with sl st to first sc (not the ch 1)
R2-10: rpt R1
Center of bow:
R1: ch 1, turn, sc in same st and across
R2-10: rpt R1
Do not fasten off yet!
Take your bow and pinch the middle. Fold the ends in just a bit (this creates that signature "bow" look). Wrap your "center piece" around and sl st ends together. f/o and weave in ends!
That's all there is to it!
Now, attach your bow to a clip or headband. (I usually use a small alligator clip and just clip it onto my little guy's shirt).
